BIOCHAR
100% Organic Soil Conditioner
Biochar is a valuable soil amendment. It is an organic solid material, like charcoal, rich in carbon and created by pyrolysis- a process where biomass (hardwood, feedstock) is burned slowly with little/no oxygen. Biochar is recognized by offering many benefits for soil health due to its extremely porous nature, which in turn, helps to hold in nutrients and provides a habitat for microorganisms. These microorganisms create good bacteria to help your soil thrive, which helps your soil and plants thrive for thousands of years!

HOW
Pure biochar needs to be mixed or inoculated (charged) with organic material, like compost. Biochar should ALWAYS be mixed with compost for optimal and speedier results (ratio for biochar and compost 50/50). Mix biochar in your soil (10% biochar to soil) for 5-7 days before planting seeds.
-1 gallon of biochar covers 2-4 sq/ft of garden. Mix into the top 4 inches. Use for flower pots, flower beds, bushes around the yard, patching the lawn that needs reseeding, apply to root of tree or shrub, and add to compost pile to speed up the composting process and reduce odor
Use as a cat litter deodorizer- sprinkle 1 cup per cat in your kitty litter box. The smell of cat urine disappears. Recommended amount: 1 gallon bag of Biochar.
WHEN
Anytime is a great way to improve soil quality. However, it's ideal to charge your soil before spring planting or in fall when preparing your garden for winter. One application can last a lifetime, however, additional benefits can be seen by adding it year after year.
